National Geographic Kids Sustainability Hub
More than ever before, customers are requiring transparency from the businesses and brands they buy from. Why? Because transparency creates trust and loyalty, allows for a clearer overview of a business, and proves they have nothing to hide. Inspired by this developing landscape, National Geographic Kids knew they needed to be more open with their customers with regards to their sustainability, and that’s where we at Creature & Co. came in…
Content Creation
Understanding National Geographic Kids’ desire to showcase their sustainability efforts, we came up with the idea of a ‘Sustainability Hub’. The aim of this hub was to inform customers about National Geographic Kids’ magazine-making process, demonstrate how they listen to feedback from readers, and show how they are constantly striving to improve their impact on the world, all whilst providing a fun digital platform to share future achievements in the world of sustainability.
The ‘Sustainability Hub’ had to include information that many adults (the potential subscribers) would engage with, but also had to be created with a kids’ audience in mind – using tone and complexity appropriate to children of primary school age. Because of this, we knew it was important to keep the hub fun, interesting and colourful, so we created an array of engaging content including an animated journey through the magazine production process full of fun facts; an interactive timeline detailing the magazine’s evolution; and a page of compelling articles, acting as a go-to area for sustainability information.
Brand Impact
The ‘Sustainability Hub’ has been very well-received by kids and adults alike; the statistics show the audience are fully engaging with the hub and enjoying the content we produced. For National Geographic Kids, the hub demonstrates all the steps they have taken to improve their impact on the world. They are constantly aiming to be a ‘force for good’ and this hub reflects that, proving they don’t just talk the sustainability talk, they also walk it.
